Most authors think they have a sales problem. They don’t.
A colleague told me, “If more people bought my book, I’d get more speeches and coaching gigs.”
My response: “You don’t have a sales problem. You have a reader problem.”
I’ve given away thousands of books. It didn’t matter.
The real challenge isn’t getting books into hands. It’s getting people to read them.
And even more important, getting them to apply the ideas.
How do you make that happen?
- Write a world-class book.
- Gamify the reading process (fun, but gimmicky).
- Make it ridiculously easy to read.
When Personality Poker was first published, Porchlight named it one of the best innovation and creativity books of the year. Readers loved it.
But today there are too many books and too little time. We live in a scrolling, reels society.
So I am rewriting Personality Poker into a ridiculously easy-to-read version.
The working title is: You’re Not Playing with a Full Deck!
It is 75% shorter than the original book.
So easy to read, it is basically the Dr. Seuss of business books, just without the rhymes.
The attached is a sneak peek from one chapter.
All the content is still there, just highly concentrated. And the full 260-page book is available for those who want to dig deeper.
If you are an author, I would love to hear the ways you have encouraged people to actually read your book.
