AI generated improvements

From Boring to Beautiful: How I Used ChatGPT to Upgrade My Webpage Design

I’ve been experimenting with ChatGPT to enhance the appearance of a dull webpage, specifically the landing page for Personality Poker Certification. The process was surprisingly simple. I uploaded screenshots of each section I wanted to improve and asked ChatGPT to generate better HTML designs. That’s it. I didn’t ask it to write content, only to make the layout look better.

Take a look at this before-and-after image. (or scroll to the bottom of this post)

On the left is my original version: lots of bullet points and very little design.

In the middle is the ChatGPT-enhanced version: a much more visually engaging layout with mobile-responsive cards.

And on the right is the professionally designed mockup from a human designer, with video placeholders and a cleaner aesthetic.

For each section of the site, I gave ChatGPT a screenshot—sometimes with a bit of context about what I was aiming for—and it returned improved HTML that I could paste directly into WordPress. One notable addition it suggested on its own was a comparison table contrasting “Individual vs. Corporate” options. It generated both the idea and the HTML.

To be clear, this was always intended as a prototype. I knew I would eventually hire a professional designer to create the final version. But I also knew that giving a designer a plain page full of bullet points wouldn’t convey my vision. Using AI gave me a better foundation—something closer to what I had in mind, and easier for someone else to build upon.

Someone on social media commented that I should’ve just sent this to my tech team instead of doing it myself. I disagree. The whole process took maybe 30 minutes to upgrade every section of the site. It would have taken longer to explain what I wanted to someone else, and I probably would’ve gotten stuck in a drawn-out feedback loop. By working directly with ChatGPT, I could test ideas, make real-time tweaks, and quickly iterate.

If you’re curious to see what ChatGPT helped create, visit personalitypokercertification.com. All of the copy is mine; ChatGPT simply improved the presentation.

Would I use AI again for this kind of thing? Absolutely for quick and temporary fixes, or to prototype a better starting point for a human designer. In fact, I think the final version is stronger because the designer had a clearer direction from the outset.

The new human-designed version of the page is expected to go live next week, so if you visit personalitypokercertification.com, you may see that version. You can always look at the before-and-after high-resolution snapshot here or view the low-resolution thumbnail below.

I also updated my contact page using this approach.

Originally I had my booking process as a long uninspiring list of steps.

The screenshot above was then fed into ChatGPT and I asked it to improve the design using a mobile-responsive card layout. It gave me the HTML code for this. I just needed to copy and paste, and voila. (Note that I had it remove the stock image that was previously used)

What do you think?
